Business hasn’t been able to reopen due to corona and being in a council owned property

I have been stood down from work because of covid19. I have now been reemployed but with drastically reduced hours. I am now in a position to not be able to cover the cost of my rent and utilities. I am relying on hand out from the Red Cross for food.

I only work one shift, only earning $100

I don’t have money, so I can’t pay the rent mire than 2 weeks, and I’m not considering food. I bought some food for 2 weeks.

I changed jobs at the beginning of the year and the restaurant where I worked was forced to close its doors and started to work only for delivery because of COVID-19 they reduced the number of the team and as I was the last contractor, unfortunately it started with me.

Work place closed, I didn’t have any income

My restaurant is currently closed and we have no idea when its gonna reopen! With no income, I can’t pay rent, bills, I’m even worried how I’m gonna buy food. Also, My visa expires in may and it cost hips of money!

I have no job because I’m in hospitality and the club i work at got shut down . I now have to use all my entitlement. So when i have my baby in September I’ll be on limited leave and will have to go back to work after 6 months. Thanks scomo!!!!

My pub has closed down, putting both myself and my partner out of work. My mental health is up and down as it is for now.

It affected me for the rent and life…

I worked in a restaurant, due to COVID-19, numbers of customer were going down rapidly, so that business owner decided to close their shop and dismiss all of employees.

I am not able to pay my whole fortnights rent,bills and food, and this fornight I have gone without any money for the last 8 days! I received $400 for the fortnight from centrelink, but my rent alone is $450 p/f. Emotionally, it is extremely hard to stay positive.

Chef at a very rich elite private school school has shut

I’ve just rented a house with 3 other people and they’ve lost the jobs also… struggling to pay bills and rent and essential shopping items.

I was offered to go to be stood down on unpaid leave until we can resume operating. 3 days later my contract was terminated. Nothing had been passed onto the employees and frankly their total lack of empathy for their ‘valued’ staff is disgusting.

I have stopped getting any shifts and the business had to close and let staff go. I have applied for many other jobs over the past 2 weeks and have not heard back from any.

Have to apply for centrelink, already surviving week to week, now I have to survive for 3-4 week’s without any support.

we Had to close down the restaurant and to avoid more spreading of the virus we decided to close for takeaway as well I’m on a bridge visa waiting for the temporary visa to be approved My wife’s a kiwi and she lost her job as well. No help so far for us

Just unsure what is the future outlook of my career, too many people been let go

My work was my some source of income, and as a casual worker that income was in constant flux. Now that I’m out of work I lack the requisite documents to make a welfare claim and the phone system is overloaded. Tough times.
