I’m 27 and worked two jobs as a chef de partie, between the two now I’m lucky to get 20 hours a week. Scheduled to work split morning/dinner service between them Thursday to Sunday, only one job needs me for Sunday night. We’ve lost more than half the staff at my cafe, only contracts are working, all the students working two shifts a week are gone. The industry is collapsing and we can’t even get in touch with centerlink ’cause the wait times are 4± hours. I haven’t “lost” my job(s), I’m just a casual contract that’s left in limbo until people want to eat out again, but I can’t survive on 500 bucks a week
