The business where I worked had been open for 5 years – a small pizza and pasta restaurant in the inner west. It took me a while to find a job that would employ me due to my endometriosis and needing time off each month. They employed me in January and have been so flexible and supportive of my chronic health issues.
Covid-19 restrictions made it increasingly difficult for the owner to want to trade, so he finally made the decision before the government did. The risk to staff, customers and delivery drivers was too great to continue trading. It was a hard decision to make, but it is ultimately the right one. I just hope that we can continue to trade again in the future as a good hospo job that pays award and takes care of you is hard to come by (especially if you have health issues!)
