My workplace is at stand down. I came as an international student, and now I am a temporary resident. The recent government support packages are only for the permanent residents and citizens. What about us who are studying, paying tax, insurance and renting a place? If the government cannot provide support package, at least freeze the rent, defer fees and freeze utility bills, or at least provide some money just to survive during this time of crisis. We cannot ask support from our poor home country as I come from a poor developing country where my parents are struggling themeselves during this crisis and staying home. We do not have sophisticated medical facilities that meets standard. It is my duty to support them, but since its a global crisis, I can’t do much as I have no work and no any way of any cash coming to my bank account. I am helpless and counting my days, how long is my saving going to last? How long does it take for this COVID 19 crisis to end? When can I normally get to work? Will I have enough days in my visa till this thing gets sorted out or will I still be alive with no any support? Or will i be on the streets shivering to death or what?
We temporary residents are also humans and we are working for this country to get its economy balanced? What if there are none of the international students and temporary residents helping out to run the Australian businessess smoothly?
The refugees wont do any good and there wont be enough human force, or lets say capable human force to maintain sustainability in Australian business and economy. Please think about us too. At least, provide us some means to just barely survive at this crisis.
