I’ve been stood down as of 24/03 from my salaried position because the business can’t function with the new capacity laws. All casual staff at my workplace lost their hours this week. All salary staff have been stood down or asked to share what little hours are available, but the business expects to close next week, or only be trading on two nights instead of the usual seven days. If we don’t have leave accumulated […]

I plan events, and manage the bar at these events. I lost all of my work in about 3 days, and now my boss struggles to find work for me for 1 day a week.

Hi, I came to Australia in the beginning of February and I have WH visa. I’m in hospitality field for many years. I have bachelor in hospitality management and back In Europe I’ve been promoted to manager position. I came here and I found two casual jobs – one with an agency which provides event management and waitstaff solution and cooperate with catering departments for various of functions focused on high standard of service and […]

Both my hospo jobs (FOH at two theatres) have closed indefinitely. I have no job and no income and luckily I saved a very small amount of money from pre-COVID 2020 but I’m eating into that right now. I am also a full-time student so with my uni hours the only suitable job is in hospo…of course there are no hospo jobs hiring right now.

The company I work for, got rid off all the casual staff without giving much notice and without giving clarification about the future for casual and part timers employers

I work at a high end restaurant in the city. The lack of demand means I’m rostered in for less shifts. My shifts get cancelled on the day. It’s extremely precarious because I can’t commit to other work while I’m promised shifts. I have no way to control my income or my plans.

I have been working for a hotel, 5 days a week on a casual basis. I have been told there would be no work for months could be until October due to Covid-19. I am also in my second trimester and my baby is due in August. My partner also is getting laid off for 6 months. We really need help financially.

My work closed the doors with no notice and put all employees on a ‘stand down’ with no pay. They optimistically plan to re open in two weeks but this is obviously not the case. They have told us we cannot seek alternative work whilst we are still under contract which is outrageous.

Celeste

I recently started working at a new venue and because I’m the newest staff there and the coronavirus stuff has impacted their business I was the first person to be let go. Now I don’t have a job.

I’ve lost shifts at both of my jobs and don’t know if I have any more coming past tomorrow. I have no other income as they are both hospitality. There is also minimal other jobs available to move into as all other positions either no longer exist as people shut or are already filled by current staff members.

I’ve had strangers at the park comment on my weight loss and are offering to bring us food etc. we can only rely on the kindness of strangers at the moment.

I have had 2 workplaces tell me I have no more work. I left my old job to start a new job, signed a contract, started and a week later lost that full time employment and income with 1 days notice. Now no one is hiring and it’s becoming impossible to even get the most basic of jobs. HELP US

No shifts available for casual workers so I have no income coming in. I’m a single parent and worried how I’ll be able to keep a roof over my daughters head and make sure she has food on the table. No idea when my next pay check will be

Our work revolves around live music and people coming to watch bands/artists. Without the live music we have nothing. As soon as the government made the 100 people capacity limit It was all over for us. I love my work place, I love the people I work with/for. The whole situation sucks.

We haven’t lost our jobs, YET. But 18 workers across two of the other hotels in our group have been dismissed this week. And while myself and other casual staff at my pub still had work this week, next week the hours are not only dismal, but it is likely that by the end of next week none of us will have jobs.
